Cellulite/Lipedema

Cellulite/Lipedema

Cellulite is the dimpled, rippling, lumpy, subcutaneous deposits of fat, body fluids, and waste materials that form on our bodies. Cellulite is most commonly found on the hips, thighs, upper back, abdomen, and calves.

Cellulite/lipedema is the stagnation of the lymphatic system. The best remedy is to enhance the body’s circulation, improve nutrition, increase metabolism, and reduce scar tissue.

Lymph massage is effective in treating the scarring of connective tissue and edema, but cannot remove or redistribute fat cells. Nor can it reduce the amount or size of fat stored in the body.

Cellulite forms in the superficial fascia, a layer of connective tissue below the skin that contains the fat cells.  Due to inactivity, injuries, and improper exercise, scar tissue can form, causing the bunched-up or rippled look.

Obesity and lack of exercise is a factor in the cause of cellulite. Lack of exercise causes weak muscles, poor skin tone, sluggish lymph circulation, and weight gain. Over exercise can also contribute to cellulite by causing muscle fatigue and buildup of by-products.

Other contributors to cellulite are sun, gravity, and exposure to cold.

To successfully treat Cellulite, not just Lymphatic Massage, but also a change in diet and lifestyle.
